Due to COVID-19 concerns, we will not be able to provide temporary accommodation for Fall 2021. We apologize for any inconvenience.
With the help of current Indian students residing in Gainesville, Indian Graduate Student Association (IGSA) provides free temporary accommodation to new incoming students up to two nights after arrival in Gainesville. The main purpose of providing this facility is to provide new students a place to stay for the initial days and help make their transition easier. Please note that this is not guaranteed and will be provided depending on the availability of volunteer hosts.

Please keep in mind that the accommodation is only for max. two nights and after which you will have to make your own arrangements. For making alternate arrangements, refer to the following places which offer good lodging options close to the university:
1. International Graduate Guest Housing
2. Days Inn Gainesville University
3. Quality Inn University

What you should expect for temporary accommodation:
This is not a hotel service; you will be hosted in people's apartments, usually in their living rooms. The hosts are supposed to provide you only space to live up to two nights depending on availability. Volunteers are not expected to provide you food or cook for you or provide you any other supplies and services, although some volunteers do it as a courtesy. You will be living at apartments of current students so in most cases there will be no beds for you to use, so please come prepared. We recommend you to get a comforter (which you can set on the carpet) and a pillow from Walmart or Target at Butler Plaza as soon as you arrive. You will need these later in your apartment anyway. Since you will be living in somebody else's home, you are expected to be courteous and help out if needed. You are expected to keep the place clean and tidy. Please try to follow any instructions your hosts might have about using any appliances in the apartment to avoid damages and accidents.
